For the Girl Struggling with Modesty…

It's hard to be modest in this backwards world. Trust me girl, I feel you! If you struggle with how you're feeling or you're not sure what to do to stay motivated to stick with it, click through to read my thoughts!

I came up with a new idea the other day, and I think I’m just going to run with it! I’ve realized that I have SO much that I want to share with you, but sometimes it’s just a quick thought here and there.

So….I’m going to start doing Super Short Sunday posts! This is just a time for me to be candid with ya and share what’s been on my mind, what I’ve been learning, and what I’ve been doing that’s been working. Will you pretty please comment below and let me know what you think of the idea?? Love it or hate it, I want to know!

Now, the topic for today…modesty.

The more that I dig into God’s Word on how to be the best woman and wife that I can be…the more that my desire to dress modestly increases. I find myself dressing in looser fitting, more conservative gym clothes and really paying attention to what parts of my body are showing in photos and videos. Ya know, in case I’m holding the camera too high 😉

That all sounds great, right?

Totally! But that doesn’t mean that it’s easy. Everywhere I go, I’m faced with women that don’t share these same thoughts. And while I know that I’m so beautiful in God’s eyes, I can’t help feeling frumpy and out of place next to these tightly-clothed women. I run a million thoughts through my mind of how great it is that I’m honoring my husband and the Lord with my modesty, but the insecurity doesn’t subside…yet.

This post is for me AND the woman digging deeper into what it means to be modest and dress modestly. I know how naked you can feel when you go against the grain and cover up. I know how your self-confidence and beauty can seem to take a hit. I know how it can feel like you’re not desirable anymore to your husband. I’m there right now, girlfriend.

Let’s go to God with this THE MOMENT we feel this way. If you’re in the store, stop right there and pray. If you’re in the gym, turn on worship music and let Him fill you with peace.  You’re not naked; you’re clothed in His grace. You can have confidence in Christ and know that He sees a beautiful treasure when He looks at you. And your godly husband will praise you when he sees the godly woman inside of you growing stronger each day.

It’s hard in this society we live in, but we aren’t called to do the easy. Love you, girl!

Thank you for sharing this. I’m going on a year now in my relationship with my guy and I’m always struggling with that insecure feeling when we are out, that everyone is dressed in almost nothing kinda clothes, while on the other hand there is me and I feel I’m dressed like a nun. It’s def hard to not feel upset towards they guys cause ya know they’re gonna look.

I’m so glad you shared this! I often struggle because I feel I don’t look my best, I feel if I showed a little more skin I might look better… This is a good reminder.

I have felt that way too, but it’s not showing the skin that will make us feel better. That thought is just a void that we feel the need to fill. We don’t need to fill it with smaller clothing, but with Jesus!

Thank you for sharing. I can really relate to this post. I’ve been in the moments of feeling less than, letting insecurities overwhelm me. On the flip side I’ve also been in the moments with the Holy Spirit where He has taken away all my insecurities of feeling “less than” & He has lifted me up and shown me who I really am, a daughter of the King! It’s so hard in this culture to be different, but when you take that leap of faith, you will never be let down!

I am so glad that you liked this! Just know that you’re not in it alone, and we are all feeling the same way!

This is very true! You’re definitely not the only one that struggles with this. Just an idea: you should make a blog post with a list of good things to listen to while working out if you haven’t already! I know I’m not the only person that finds myself getting too into some less-than-pleasing-to-the-Lord music when I’m working out sometimes just because the beat helps so much!

That’s a great idea! I’ll get to work on that!
